The life you can safe [Peter Singer]

Author, coauthor, or editor of more than thirty books, including Animal Liberation, widely considered to be the founding statement of the animal rights movement, Practical Ethics, and One World: Ethics and Globalization tienes siempre algo interesante que decir.

Chapter 9. asking too much?
«According to branko milanovic of the world bank, if we define the rich as those who have an income aboe the average income of portugal, then tehre are 855 million rich people in the world.» If each of us gave $200 per year, that would total $171 billion, or roughly the amount sach’s United nations task force believes is needed each year to meet the Millenium Development Goals.

Chapter 5. Creating a Culture of Giving
Giving example from people who are very rich and them, they give a lot of money for Charity….

Chapter 3. Common Objections to Giving
He wrote for The New York Times in 1999, laying out a version of the argument you have just read, and asked them to write papers in response.
«After reading his essay, Douglas, another Glennview student, objected that I «should not have the right to tell people what to do». In one sense, he’s correct about that…

«Consider that if you are a middle class person in a developed country, you were fortunate to be born into social and economic circumstances that make it possible for you to live comfortably if you work hard an have the right abilities. Herbert simon estimated that «social capital» is responsible for at least 90 percent of what people earn in wealthy societies. «
